Design Shanghai is Asia’s leading international design event, establishing a precedent in China’s design community. 9 – 12 March 2016 have seen the return of the event at the stunning Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

Driade was for the second year one of the protagonists of Design Shanghai. On a setting that emphasises the eclectic brand continuity between past, present and future, Driade provided an overview of its collection, including some of the latest news such as ZIGZAG Library by Konstantin Grcic and iconic products as Lampsi Chandelier by Park Associati.

[ZIGZAG Library] The product was at first put on the market in 1996, and eleven years later its re-launch introduces a range of both manufacturing and material trim innovations to the original project. ZIGZAG is mounted without any tools and comes in two heights. A new palette of metal colours – black, white, bronze and polished stainless steel – goes with two variety of wooden shelves, oak and American walnut. The clip-on bookends are available in all colour options plus a fluorescent red colour which is reminiscent of the orange bookends of the 1996 original.

[Lampsi Chandelier] Park Associati designed Lampsi Chandelier starting from a strong constructivist inspiration: a central core enclosed by a strict graphic cage. Diffused light comes from LED strips applied to an anodised aluminium extrusion frame. Lampsi comes as both extruded anodized aluminum chandelier with dark orange central element or brown extruded anodized aluminum chandelier with bright orange central element.

[Cantilever Table] Canadian design and production studio molo takes part in Design Shanghai with Cantilever, a flexible paper table based upon a honeycomb structure that flat packs when not in use. Available both in sitting and standing height, Cantilever Table can be covered with any solid surface, such as marble, Corian®, glass, etc. Modularly connectable, multiple Cantilever Table bases can be attached via magnetic end panels and stretched to create linear or curving tables.

The table can be additionally fitted with an accessory of stacked, paper sketching circles. The sheets of paper are designed to rotate freely around a central spindle/pencil holder, allowing a sketch idea to be spun around to each person at the table to view and build upon the concept.

[Neva Chair] In 2007, the Artisan factory was founded in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a profound history traced back to the Ćostović, the veteran artisan family. These handcrafted woodwork are created by those artisans who grew up with wood and have been dedicated their lives to wood since then. In its first time at Design Shangai, Artisan presented Neva Chair, a minimalist design created by Croatia-based designers Ruđer Novak-Mikulić & Marija Ružić. Just like a wave, the chair is completely fluid and rounded with smooth transitions. The product is available in six different kinds of wood (oak, walnut, maple, elm, cherry and pear), with various natural finishes.
